Just a Swiftie Trying to Create Something Magical
Hi everyone! I’m Kate, the creator of Sugar & Dice Design Co. Welcome–I’m thrilled to have you here!
My story starts in December 2023 when I was involved in a devastating car accident that totaled my car, and turned my world upside down. Since the accident I have been living with chronic pain, along with mental health struggles including anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression.Â
Navigating life with chronic pain has been challenging, overwhelming, angering, and heartbreaking. Despite an amazing healthcare team and supportive family, I have had many periods of feeling helpless this past year. One of my toughest adjustments since the accident has been figuring out how to cope with my “new normal” and finding new ways to bring joy and meaning to my life.
In the fall of 2024 I started dabbling in the digital art space. I have always been labelled as “creative” or “artistic”, however I had no prior experience with digital design or animation. With time on my hands, and desperate need for distraction, I thought this was the perfect time to invest in myself and learn a new skill. There was little to no risk, and everything to gain from it.
This marked the beginning of a creative era that far surpassed any expectations I had for myself. It started with creating Swiftie fan art–pieces inspired by The Eras Tour–and then my creative juices took over, finding different ways to celebrate Taylor Swift and her music using my own creative superpowers! I designed an advent calendar of Taylor Swift themed Christmas ornaments, and made nearly 50 different sugar cookies with designs inspired by Taylor’s songs, lyrics and eras.

I know every Swiftie can sound the same at times, talking about how much they love Taylor, proclaiming they are her “biggest fan”, with every lyric of every song memorized–and I am no exception! But when I say that Taylor, her music and The Eras Tour saved me this year…I mean it with sincerity.
Thanks to Taylor, I have taken a ginormous leap of faith and gone out on a limb to create Sugar & Dice Design Co. My vision is to connect with like minded people–Swifties and non-Swifties alike–and create a space to celebrate art and how it is used as a form of expression and means of sharing our stories with the world.
So get ready for what will likely be a bit of a rollercoaster ride. The idea of Sugar & Dice Design Co. is ever evolving, and I am excited to see where this adventure takes me (and you!).
